Shrek the Musical

Venue: Theatre Royal Drury Lane, London
Date: Wednesday 13th June 7pm
Seats: Premium Stalls J23-24

Shrek the musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane is the perfect fairytale adventure. Upon arrival at the Theatre, our tickets were upgraded from “Y row” stalls to Premium “J row seats” worth £94.00 each. The view from these seats was fantastic - but I was surprised at the amount of empty seats at this mid week performance. This show is all about the costumes, which are so vibrant and bring the original DreamWorks movie characters to life. Children and adults alike were enthralled by fairytale characters such as Pinocchio, the Ugly Duckling and the Three Little Pigs live on stage.

We weren't allowed to take pictures
but got a sneaky one from Row J Stalls!
Dean Chisnall is well cast as larger than life Shrek. With a Mike Myers Scottish accent and strong singing voice showcased in “Who I’d be” Chisnall is a perfect leading man, or should I say Ogre! Carley Stenson was feisty as Princess Fiona and Neil McDermott was hilarious as my personal favourite - camp Lord Farquaad. A special mention must go Landi Oshinowo as Dragon – what a voice! With bright, colourful scenery and a tongue in cheek script – this production has something for all the family.  A good show for fans of the film as it really has the fun factor! Finale “I’m a Believer” had us humming all the way back to the Travel Lodge! ****
